Families are a natural place that kids (of all ages!) turn to for advice, support, and growth in faith. Often, the challenge is knowing how to begin a conversation about how you can live your faith more fully. The Office of Catholic Youth’s Pastoral Plan offers themes and challenges that can be starting points for discussion. Every month, one of the challenges will be a conversation starter question to encourage family communication that can be included in a parish bulletin. A suggested bulletin announcement for November is included below:
Blessed are the poor in spirit (Mt. 5.3)

Set aside some time to catch up with your family and consider having a conversation about what it means to be poor in spirit. Here’s a question to consider:
Image is everything in a consumer world and we are encouraged to believe that everything ‘new’ and ‘more’ is better. Yet this Beatitude challenges us to look beyond ourselves and personal gain. What one thing can you do as a family and individually that is a choice for what you really need instead of what you want?

Get onboard - it’s not too late!
Registration for the Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to the 49 th International Eucharistic Congress in Quebec City 2008 is still open to all parishioners, religious, clergy and members of lay movements aged 18+ within the Archdiocese of Toronto. We will offer our pilgrims a unique opportunity for faith formation based on the events of the International Congress and our own pilgrimage process. Through reflections on the needs of our parishes, the message of the Gospel, and our experience of Eucharist, we will discover ways to respond to those needs.
