OUR MISSION

St. Paschal's Youth Ministry (S.P.Y.G. as we would like to be called) seeks to reach out to young people to proclaim the Good News and its relevance in their lives by integrating prayer, fellowship, service, catechesis and the Sacraments in order to foster their love for Jesus Christ and encourage their call to holiness as members of the Church and hope for the world.

OUR LIFE

S.P.Y.G. consists of committed members who organize events such as retreats, talent shows, concerts and community service to help in developing each member in the group. The group meets on Mondays to commence the week with fellowship through song, discussions and activities pertaining to important events in the church calendar and the lives of the members of the youth group. Fridays nights are full of song as we gather to practice new songs as well as old songs to prepare for our Sunday 2PM service. The 2PM YOUTH MASS is a celebration energized by a full band, aided by an awesome choir as well as having youth member commissioned by Father Vincenzo Rosato (Parish Pastor) to be Eucharistic Ministers. This creates motivation in the young people as being able to be an active and important part of the Church community.

Annual events such as the re-enactment of the Way of the Cross during Lent, enable us to connect with the Lord's Passion in a more personal way and creates a bond between members of the group and the whole community. Another Lenten event that we organize and participate in is the 24 Hour Fast in which we spend 24 hours (no kidding) in our parish with nothing to eat. We use this experience to remind ourselves of the sacrifices that God had to make through his son Jesus for all of us. It also puts into perspective the suffering of those who go without food on a daily basis. These plus our annual Advent retreat help us to connect with each other spiritually and personally.

We've made it a priority to serve those in our community who are less fortunate than we are. We've introduced new service opportunities to the young people that we pray to continue and keep as annual occurrences. Last summer we started by reaching out to the elderly in our community by singing on Mondays for a mass celebrated at Cummer Lodge Home for the Aged. This summer we introduced the youth to the very vibrant and humbling community at St. Jude's Academy of the Arts where we spent Wednesdays with the clients participating in their daily activities. These are humbling experiences that touch the hearts of many members and their welcomed friends.

Other Annual events:
- Hope In Flight 3on3 Co-ed Charity Basketball Tournament
- Family Picnics and Potlucks
- Organized fudraisers (Car wash/garage sale, carolling, talent shows, etc.)
- Amazing Race
- Social Nights
- "Monday Meetings"
- Much, much more

As a youth group connected with St. Paschal Baylon we emphasize the importance of the Eucharist. We unceasingly create opportunities for young people to know, to love and to serve Christ.
