Returning August 2021
Haliburton, ON

Drawing from the experiences of parish-based EDGE Ministry, EDGE Camp seeks to provide its participants with a personal and deeper experience of conversion in faith in Jesus Christ through His Church, alongside their peers from various parishes, in a fun, engaging and reflective environment.

EDGE Camp originated in 2009 as a collaboration between seven parishes. 160 youth attended this first year of camp which was held at a camp ground outside of Haliburton, Ontario, where it remains to this day.

Over the past ten years, the camp grew steadily and the Office of Catholic Youth became involved in planning and operations. In 2019, close to 600 youth attended from 35 different parishes. The camp now operates three separate five-day camps to accommodate for the growth in numbers.

EDGE camp has become very popular with youth in grades 5-8 who participate in their parish EDGE ministries because of the thrilling high ropes activities, zip-lining, giant swing, mountain biking, lake swimming, kayaking, canoeing, an inflatable recreation area on the lake, and all sorts of sports and other recreational activities. Also included in each camp session is daily Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, confessions and daily Catechesis sessions based around a yearly theme.

How does one attend EDGE Camp?

The one key requirement to attend EDGE Camp is that the parish must be running an active EDGE youth ministry. The camp experience is based on the premise that the Edge camp is the “icing on the cake” of an already established youth ministry, not a stand alone event. Additionally the parish must have a committed level of adults and possibly teens to help contribute to preparing the camp and supervise their parish campers from the beginning to the end of the camp experience.

How much does it cost?

The regular price for the camp for 2020 is $475 per camper, but an early bird rate of $425 is available. This includes all 5 days of activities, meals from lunch on day one through to lunch on day five, bussing, supervision, the camp shirt and gear for the week, the facilities, the staff of the extreme adventure activities as well as all of the supplies and equipment necessary to run the catechesis and social events.
